Liability Insurance.

Liability insurance is a minimum coverage mandated by the State. Every motorcycle and automobile insurance policy has to, under law cover bodily injury and property damage.. The amount varies from state to state. Some states follow the no fault liability system. In these states an additional PIP (Personal Injury Protection) is also legally mandated to be paid by the insurance company immediately regardless of who is at fault. Getting the basic liability coverage may be the best cheap bike insurance available but it is not necessarily the safest.

Full Insurance Coverage.

Full bike insurance coverage is coverage for bodily injury for a higher sum than the legally mandated coverage and a higher sum for property damage. Other coverage offered by a full coverage policy is collision insurance where the repairs to a vehicle are covered no matter which driver is at fault. Comprehensive coverage is given in case the vehicle is damaged by nature or vandalism. Uninsured/Underinsured insurance helps pay for damages when you have an accident with an uninsured underinsured driver.

Does Liability Insurance Offer Sufficient Protection?

Liability insurance is never enough when an accident occurs. If courts award a higher sum than the basic liability sum insured, the balance has to be paid from your pocket. If you are unable to pay the high claim up front, the sum will be deducted from your monthly paycheck at a higher rate than an affordable full coverage monthly premium.  Liability insurance may not be sufficient to cover injuries to your bike or your injuries. Basic liability insurance will not cover acts of nature or vandalism nor will it give you immediate help with repairs of the bike as collision insurance cover does. If you are involved in an accident with an uninsured or underinsured driver, basic liability insurance will not be your step in aid.

When Does Liability Insurance Give Adequate Protection?

If your motorcycle is old and worn out and buying collision and comprehensive insurance will not give you adequate cover, you can choose basic liability insurance to give you a cheap bike insurance rate.
